...crushing on CHAIRISH....!

I can't remember how I discovered the designer furniture focused website Chairish. It may have been on a lucky click of the mouse...I do remember that it grew like rapid fire because it filled a niche for us designers and design-lovin' consumers that hadn't been done...I mean, I guess Chairish says it in a nutshell on their blog:

Chairish makes it fun and easy for design lovers to buy and sell pre-loved decor to one another. Our shop exclusively features curator-approved treasures in a full-service and trustworthy environment.

What I love most about Chairish is that I can mix in their featured pieces with any room design I am working on....I frequently liken a room's design to that of dressing one's self. The way you dress typically reflects your personal style and in turn your home.

I like to mix up my wardrobe with high/mid/low pieces. Some sale items, some bargains, some coveted high-designer-they-will-last-longer-than-anything-else-in-your-closet pieces, some vintage and some new/modern. And that is how I LOVE to specify and shop from Chairish. They have incredible deals on beautiful vintage items and designer specified pieces (often new design) on the daily and at a variety of prices. And the best part?! They handle the shipping.

I was recently sourcing for a client and came across these adorable Mid-Century Lawerence Peabody chairs on Chairish and my brain instantly wanted to develop a whole room around them....!

 photo ChairishInspirationbyJanelHolidayInteriorDesign_zpsfdda04f6.jpg
fabric for curtains (on the sides): Diane Von Furstenberg for Kravet
wall color: Benjamin Moore's "Sterling" #1591 - this pretty light grey has subtle blue undertones that offers a great backdrop and lets the oranges and greens in the room pop
chandelier: giant brass sputnik chandelier by Jonathan Adler
pair of lamps: tangerine ceramic lamps, circa 1960s
mirror: Labarge double interlocking oval mirror offered by Chairish
credenza: "sculputa" walnut front crendenza offered by Chairish
modern sofa: "Raleigh Sofa" in white leather from DWR
coffee table: a gorgeous vintage Karl Springer to hold court
side table: Bala Lo table by Se - I love adding a bit of stone to counter act the glass and walnut surfaces
area rug: New Zealand wool cut pile "Marsden" area rug by Angela Adams

And wouldn't you know it, but those chairs sold LIKE THAT....you have to act quick....but did you see all my other featured items by Chairish above?!

Happy Shopping!! xo

DAHLIAS, doll....!

What's not to love about dahlias? They are so varied, colorful and intricate. I love big bunches throughout the house...they are such a happy flower and brighten up any space in a second.

When my boys got married a few weeks ago we headed over to San Francisco's Golden Gate Park to snap a few pics. The Conservatory of Flowers always makes a classic background and while shooting away my friend Tony noticed the Dahlia (Dell) Garden off to the side. I had ZERO idea it was there.....and it is amazing.

I have admired this large scale Dahlia wallpaper from Designer's Guild for some time and think it would make for such a fun, girly Entry....I paired it with a few other pieces that I have had my eye on for some time:

 photo Dahlia_Inspiration_JHID_zpsc0052417.jpg
wallpaper: oversized dahlia wallpaper
credenza: studded console by Tommi Parzinger...not the first time this hot number has showed up on the JHID blog....!
pair of lamps: I just realized they may have discontinued this color (gasp!!), but they still have this style over at Ro Sham Beaux.
mirror: Portico mirror from....wait for it....Z GALLERIE! I know...cute, right?! I have installed it a few times now and it is a fantastic mirror. And you can't beat the $300 price tag!
chandelier: brass and glass 9-night chandelier by Hans-Agne Jakobsson from the 60's.

a few COOL THINGS I'm loving these days....!

We here in San Fransisco don't typically receive our warm summer weather until everyone else's summers have come to a close....late September and October it gets real pretty here...maybe that is why today's inspiration board is a bit dark and moody. Whatever the reason, these are a few things I have my eye on for the home and bod. Hope you're having a WARM and awesome summer so far!

1. all things oxblood from Dr. Martens - I bought a few pairs recently and haven't worn in a pair of these puppies for over 20 years. Um, ouch.
2. this vintage Stilnovo chandelier makes me happy. It just recently sold and I am dying to know how it will be installed.
3. my boys gave me this Byredo Carrousel candle and I can't stop burning it.
4. Kelly Wearstler's perforated bronze "precision tray" wins for scale, material and eye appeal.
5. Jennifer Fisher's jewelry is all slam dunk material, but this "Cray" cuff also carries one my littlest chihuahua's many nicknames.
6. sexy, matte-black flatware from Almoco
7. a different take on the typical brass sputnik - thanks, Kelly!
8. the Iguana Superwide wallpaper by Timorous Beasties WILL be mine (or a client's) one day. I've been obsessed with it since it came out.
9. I found artist Cheyenne Randall on Instagam (follow him here) and was instantly enamored with his "Shopped Tattoos" works. This one of Johnny Cash is fantastic.
10. this chic, antiqued mirrored entertainment console from Worlds Away can come live with me any day.

our 30th wedding......!!

Three and half years ago my husband and I picked up our assigned seating at a dear friend's wedding and were like "who?"....we had kinda expected to be sitting with some of our regular peeps, but know what? thank GOD (or whoever) we were assigned a twist to our norm. Our wise friend knew we would hit it off big time with our future bffs at the four-top we were assigned to. And that.was.that. Since that night it has been ON. I fell in love that night with these two dudes. We had so much in common.....SO much. And it was way too much to pack into a 6 hour evening...so we continued that relationship and it grew...and grew......and my love for them did as well.

Fast forward three point five years and here they are!! On SF ground. Gettin' married and shizzle. I was HONORED to do whatever task was available. We had a blast going to the SF Flower Mart and constructing their boutonnieres...all the time while listening to romantic jazzy tunes and 80s throw backs............
