...tempting TEAL and gorgeous GOLD...!

i am loving everything jewel toned right now.....rich, saturated color that is warm and vibrant.  a longtime favorite color combo of mine being teal + gold.  it reminds me of favorite places to find this marriage of colors in nature; peacock feathers, fall sunsets, butterfly wings, precious stones and minerals, metals.....its just yummy and i thought i would share a few amazing pieces with you as well!

"LESS and MORE"...the Dieter Rams retrospect at the SFMOMA

The SFMOMA does a wonderful job of bringing unique and design-oriented curated shows to the museum.  My husband and I were thrilled to learn that a collection and retrospect of German industrial designer Dieter Rams would be added to this list of must-see shows.

We attended the opening night which was well attended by an iPhone heavy crowd  (and Dieter himself, bless his heart) that were snapping away photos on their mini computers – myself included - phones that very much evolved from Rams’ designs.  In fact, there are several Apple items that bear an eerie resemblance to Rams’ designs for Braun.  You'll see what i mean in a bit...

It was a very crowded opening night so I didn’t take many shots.  I headed back a few weeks ago to really study and absorb the beautiful objects Rams designed for domestic wares  companies Braun and Vitsoe for over 50 years.  His industrial designs and approach – “less, but better” – set the bar in this field and continues to do so.

hairdryers. 1970. Rams favored a color palette of whites, grays, blacks  and natural materials.  he felt this gave the products a certain anonymity and that they would not dominate and environment, thus improving longevity by avoiding falling out of fashion.

old school style + inspiration

i miss and think about my mom's parents every day.  i thought after a few years, it would be easier to not miss them as much, but in a way it's harder.  i have to struggle a bit more to retain the memories that are so important to me and really were a major part in shaping the person i am today.  i try to not live with regrets of taking more time just talking and listening to them.  i try not to think about how many amazing stories and memories i missed out on hearing from them first hand because i was too busy.  instead, i hang onto the imagery of their home, their gardens, all the animals, my grandmother's aviaries, my grandfather's tool sheds, the sounds of their desert home, the black bottom swimming pool with the half-naked mermaid and so much more.....

here are a few favorite photos of them.
